Virus infection can cause many glomerular diseases. In Asian population, hepatitis B virus(HBV) is a common cause of secondary membranous nephropathy(MN), mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis (MCGN) and mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis(MsPGN). Nephrotic syndrome(NS) and progressive renal insufficiency are the main clinical manifestations of hepatitis B virus associated glomerulonephritis(HBV-GN). Finding HBV antigen in renal tissue is the most important diagnostic criterion of HBV-GN. Because of lacking suitable animal model, lag of basic research and pathogenesis being unclear, there is no specific treatment to HBV-GN.
