| Purpose:to evaluate the inhibition cell growth and the effect of apoptosis and cell cycle induced by Chinese herds medicine on colon cancer cell line (THC8908) and Stomach Carcinoma cell line(MGC803) . Methods: The effect of Chinese herds medicine on the growth of cell was observed by MTT , apoptosis and cell cycle evaluated by PI staining and Flow Cytometry assay. Results: the observation showed that Radix Astragali and Trichosanthis significantly inhibited THC8908 cell growth . The number of phase G0/G1 cell increased and S cell decreased .Their induction of apoptosis was positive Conclution: Induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest was ascribed to mechanisms of antitumor activity of Rudix Astragali and Trichosanthis.
