High Risk Behaviors Related HIV/AIDS And Demographic Variables Of Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) In JiangSu Province

Background and Objective: The prevalence of AIDS is becoming severe day by day in China. It is estimated that there are 840,000 HIV infectors in China now, though the total infect ion rate is less than 0.1% in adults, epidemic situation has spread to 31 provinces (municipalities/cities of directly under the jurisdiction of government). MSM mainly include gay, male bisexual, male transsexual and male heterosexual, who are one of the three populations with AIDS high-risk behavior confirmed in international researchers. The other two populations are female sex workers and injecting drug users. At present, there are lots of blanks in the relevant study on MSM in China. In order to constitute the strategy of HIV/AIDS prevention and control, it is necessary to make a thorough demographic variables researches on MSM.Method: Target sampling is adopted to obtain a sample. Surveying 222 MSM of JiangShu province through anonymous questionnaire and examining their Urine anti-HIV. The data is statisticed with SPSS 8.0.Results: In the previous 6 months the male sex partners, anal intercourse partners, casual sex partners of <25 age group were more than 25-34 age group and 35-44 agegroup (P均<0.05 ) . The female sex partners of <25 age group were more than other agegroups evidently ( P均<0.01 ) .The percentage of condom use in making same-sex, consistent condom use in anal intercourse in the previous 6 months, condom use to avoid HIV infection of <25 age group was the highest ( P均<0.05 ) . <25 age group had the shortest time which keep relationship with male partners and had the lowest percentage of never use condom in anal intercourse in the previous 6 months ( P均<0.01 ) ,and they had higher percentage of taking part in sex work in the previous 6 months than 25-34 age group ( P <0.01 ) . 35-44 age group had lower anal intercourse partners in the previous 6months than the other age group ( P <0.05 ) . >35 age group had the highest percentage ofconsistent condom use and never use in oral intercourse and had the highest percentage of paying for same sex service in the previous 6 months (P均<0.05 ). The percentage of ever had anal intercourse ,ever had same sex behaviors when went to other place of 45 agegroup was the highest (P均<0.05 ) .The well-educated MSM had lower male sex partners, oral intercourse partners andanal intercourse partners in the previous 6 months (P 均<0.05) .While the poor-educatedMSM had higher sex partners when they went to other places in the previous 6 months(P <0.01) .The percentage of ever had taken part in sex work and ever had casual sexpartners in public in the previous 6 months of well-educated MSM was lower thanpoor-educated MSM(P均<0.01 ).The MSM who lived in big cities had lower percentageof paying for same sex service in the previous 6 months than the MSM who lives in smallcities (P=0.01) .The lower numbers of male sex partners,oral intercourse partners and analintercourse partners in the previous were found in MSM who were non-physical labourersand lived in cities (P均<0.05) .The MSM who were physical labourers and lived incountry had the highest female sex partners in the previous 6 months (P 均<0.01) .Thepercentage of ever had anal intercourse, ever had taken part in sex work in the previous 6monthsof the physical labourers and lived in country was the highest and that of thenon-physical labourers lived in city was the lowest (P 均<0.05) .The MSM who had noreligions had longer time which keep relationship with regular sex parters than otherMSM (P <0.05) .The MSM whose income was 1000-2000yuan per month had more oralintercourse partners than the MSM whose income was more than 2000yuan per month.The percentage of ever had oral intercourse in the previous 6 months in the MSM whoseincome was 1000-2000yuan per month was the highest, that of the MSM whose incomewas less than 1000yuan per month or had no income is the lowest.
