Abstract/Summary:
Objective In the last two years we received a quite few people who went to the hospital for a special disease, multiple hypomelanosis. The patients'clinical presentations are different from any diseases we have known before.ln order to know more about it , We studied 18 patients with this special disease. Methods Cllected all multiple hypomelanosis patients and studied their clinical presentations, family circs, health situations and so on. We also chose two typical patients to perform pathology and electromicroscope examinations in order to know more about the disease. Results The clinical manifestation in the 18 cases studied was charactered as below: (1) the disease usually occurs in adolescende; 2) lesions manifested by multiple hypopigmented macules,0.5cm to 1.5cm in diameter, numerous from tens to hundreds, oval, circular or irregular.symmeterly distributed and some coalesce to form patches with obscure border. The surface is smooth without scale.Sites of predilection is waist-abdomen region, then the unexposed skin of the sides of trunk, the upper arms, hips and extrathigh, the hypopigmented rarly occurs on skin of "V'region of upper chest, never on face.hands and foot.;(3)Without any subject symptom;(4)From several to tens of years in course;5)Some lesions can regress spontaneously.(6)TEM was used on two cases, which showed the decrease of proportion of mature melanosome.(7)most of the them was diagnosed as 'tinea versicolor'before. no related cases have been reported in documents used several headings. Conclusion:This multiple hypomelanosis may be a new disease whose cvharacters are as below:(1) it's etiology remains unkown, heredity and sunlight might be involved;(2)clinical presentation was described as multiple hypopigmented macules, asymptom, chiefly occurs on skin of trunk and proximal limb.(3)the disease is only unpleasing to the eye,it has no symptom and some lesions can regress spontaneously (4) .treatments is nomally unnecessary.Since the disease usually occurs in adolescence and etiology remains unkown,we prefer to name it 'adolescent idiopathic leukoderma'.
