PrefaceCollagen is a main component of the atherosclerosis plaque. Recently, it is known that the collagen is not only organization of atherosclerosis plaque , but also could effect permeability of intima, migration and proliferation of smooth muscle cells and fragility of the plaque, which are important cases during the progress of the plaque. Matrixmetalloproteinase - 1 is thought to play a central role in degradation of collagen.In the study, Huomai Yin is produced by pharmaceutical department of the second affiliated hospital of China Medical University. It comes from Buyang-huanwu Soup and Xuefuzhuyu Soup. Our research aims at the effects of Huomai Yin on atherosclerosis plaque , collagen and Matrixmetalloproteinase - 1.Materials and Methods40 rabbits were randomly distributed to 5 groups; blank control group, hyper lipid group , simvastatin group, Huomai Yin lowdose group and Huomai Yin highdose group. There were 8 rabbits in each group. The experimental model of atherosclerotic rabbits was established by endothelial injury by balloon and hyper - lipid feed.
