ObjectiveTo investigate the value of a new index - Tei index for estimating left ventricular global function in patients with essential hypertension diseases.MethodsThe study included 65 patients with essential hypertension diseases , divided into three groups: normal left ventricle ( group A, 32 subjects ) , concentric remodeling (group B, 19 subjects ) , eccentric remodeling (group C, 14 subjects ) , and 30 normal subjects as control group. The conventional echo -Doppler method parameters assessed included : The diastolic diameters of left ventricle (LVDd) , RWT , E/A ratio , deceleration time (DT) , ejection fraction (EF) and Tei index.ResultsRWT was increased in group A,B and C compared with group D, P < 0.01 . LVDd in group C was larger than that of group A ,B and D, P < 0.01 . E/A in group A,B and group C were all decreased compared with group D, P <0.01. The EF was significantly reduced in group C than that of group D , P <0.01 . Tei index in group C was prolonged than that of group D , P <0.01 .ConclusionTei index was valuable and simple for estimating left ventricular systolic...
