Objective To summarize the clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation and surgical treatment in ten patients with cor triatriatum sinister, and then to discuss the diagnosis and the technique of operation. Methods Ten patients with cor triatriatum sinister were undergone open heart surgery under hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB).The mean age of the patients was 8.10±12.72 years, with a range of 7 months to 43 years, excision of the fibromuscular membrane in the left atrium was accomplished with a right atrium approach in all the ten patients and the associated abnormalities were corrected at one time. Results Ten patients were undergone surgical corrections successfully with good results. Conclusion Cor triatriatum is a rare congenital heart disease. Twodimensional echocardiography with colour doppler imaging and MRI are of great value in the diagnosis of cor triatriatum . It can get good result to resect the fibromuscular of left atrium and correct associated cardiac abnormalities simultaneously.
