| Objective: Recently more and more studies in animal model and humans have shown that,the angiotensin (Ang) type 1(AT1) reception antagonistARB) have beneticial effects on a little of arrhythmias, besides in atrial fibrillation. Some observation shows the ARB reduced the Atrial fibrillation of paroxysmal and transite the chronic atrial fibrillation. The purpose of this study was to abserve the effect of valsartan , which was the new ARBS, on atrial of electrical remodeling, investigate the electrophysiological date , which ARB have benefical effects on Atrial fibrillation. Methods: In 30 rabits , divides into control groups and drug groups . After opening chest ,leads the pacing electrode leads and recording electrode leads. The atrial electrophysiological date was measured before ,durning ,and after high-frequency atrial pacing. Rapid atrial pacing at 800 bpm was maintaimed of 120 minnutes .Results: before repid atrial pacing,.There was no significant differece in drugs group and in control groups. And in the control group, the atrial effective refractory period (AERP) was shortered during rapid atrical pacing, and recover to the baseline after rapid atrical pacing 30 minutes. However, in the valstartan group, shorteing of the AERP after rapid pacing was completely inhibited. Although rate adaption of AERP was lost in the control group, this phenomenon was preserved in the valsarton group. Conclusions: The valsartan prevented AERP shortering during rapid atrial pacing, but no effect in normal electrophy- siologicy of atrial .These results indicate valsartan may lead to the better management of Atrial fibrillation. In control group , Atrial fibrillationhas has caused in four rabbits, but in none of valsartan group.
