Objective: The aim of present study was to assess the residents baseline knowledge regarding stroke emergency knowledgeMcthond: A community -based survery was conducted in 4 districts in Qingdao. A total of 10000 participants between the age 18-82 years old were selected at random,9316 questionnaires were valid. We conducted the items for the survey.Result: A total of 9316 participants completed the questionnaires.7431 participants correctly identified that stroke is a emergency. 6765 participants reported that they would call an ambulance if they thought that they were having a stroke. 6975 participants reported that they would visit a hospital in 6 hours. 4935 participants reported that their sources of stroke information were newspapers and magazines. The knowledge of stroke prevention and treatment of >45 years old participants was better than <45 years old (p< 0.01),males was not better than females (p>0.01). The difference of the appearance rate in 6 hours is statistic significance(P < 0.01) between the ischemic stroke patients(46%) and the hemorrhagic stroke patients(78%).Conclusion: The level of public knowledge of stroke in Qingdao is need to improving, education can be conducted by different ways in different ages.
