Background:Acupuncture is one of the important component of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). There are many acupuncture techniques which proved to be effective in treating cerebral vascular diseases (CVA). Recently there are many reports in Acupuncture treatment in China but lacking of objective and systemic evaluating methods, which hinders the popularization of this therapy in the world. Moreover, there are many different techniques as well as prescriptions of acupuncture which makes it difficult to assess its therapeutic effects. Therefore it is important to adopt proper methods to evaluation the effect of acupuncture in various literatures and reports. Object:Analyzing the scientific design in the literatures of acupuncture treatment for cerebral infarction from 1983 to 2000. Meter analysis method was applied to assess the effect of various acupuncture methods in treating CVA. Method:According to clinic epidemiology/DME principles, an 'evaluating form of literatures on clinical researches of CVA treated with TCM ' was made. This form was applied to assess the documents on acupuncture treatments for cerebral infarction from 1980 to 2000. Qualified documents were selected, classified and summarized and the Meter analyzing method was used for statistic analysis. Consequence:After collecting and analyzing more than 90 articles, the qualities of the scientific design were as the following: 11. 14% of the researches used random controlling design/compare control rates of 24%. The researches in all documents had not estimate the sample contents; only 53.54% of the researches...
