Part 1.The Study on the Proportion of BCD Mixture in vitroObjective To study the relation between the concentration of BCDmixture and its condensation time, observe the relation between BCDmixture concentration and its injection pressure through catheter and todetermine satisfied concentration of BCD mixture for animal study. Methods â‘ Pulverized CAP weighted 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350,400mg is respectively dissolved in 3ml DMSO. The mixture is instilledinto the test tube that contained 100ml normal sodium(NS) throughsyringe above the surface. The condensation time is recorded withstopwatch. â‘¡ The injection pressure is recorded when the mixture isinjected through high pressure syringe for 7 times. Results â‘ The mixture of group 1 is condensed on the surface of NS.Others are formed into conglomeration and the condensation time islonger than that of group 1 .The thicker, the shorter of the condensationtime in group 2~7.â‘¡The mixture could be successfully injected throughTracker-18 microcatheter without any jams and the pressure is no morethan 200psi.Conclusion â‘  The mixture with different concentration varies thecondensation time in NS. As the mixture is thicker, the condensation time is shorter and the conglomeration volume is bigger. â‘¡The BCD mixture can be successfully injected and easily through Tracker-18 microcatheter.Part 2.Effects of experimental embolization of rabbit renal artery withBCD MixtureObjective To study the safety and value of the rabbit renal artery embolization with BCD mixture. Methods 21 New Zealand rabbits weighted 2.0-2.8 kg were selected. After the administration of general anesthesia the right femoral artery was cannulated surgically for the placement of 4F catheter introducer sheath, and the renal artery or the branches were inserted with Tracker-18 microcatheter. 0.2 ~ 0.4ml BCD mixture was infused to renal artery. The rabbit were divided into 3 groups at random: angiographic and histopathologic evaluation were made at 1day, 7days, 30days after the embolization procedure. Results â‘ The BCD mixture was visible distinctly and was injected easily. â‘¡We are satisfied for the embolization of BCD mixture when we counterchecked on 7 days or 30 days after the embolization procedure . The disposed artery was also occluded and there was no rupture.â‘¢The rabbit artery and the renal interlobar artery are embolized and the BCD mixture is black scracps with lightmicroscope. Gentle inflammatory reaction and thrombus was found on the acute stage, however, the wall of the vessel was unchanged. The coagulant necrosis and thickened tunica intima of vessel were observed on the subacute and chronic stage. Conclusion â‘ The BCD mixture is one of new Liquid Embolic Agents. There is no difficulty in delivering BCD mixture through 4F cobra catheter and Tracker-18 microcatheter and no occurrence of catheter "gluing" . â‘¡The effects of embolization is excellent and there was no recanalization. â‘¢There was no collapse of the elastic layer and no necrosis in the wall of vessel after procession.
