Sea sickness is a common phenomenon when sailing, it does great harm to Navy, so anti-seasickness research has become the important study in the nautical medicine, but the exact cause is still not understood despite of much research.Researches show that many neurotransmitters and hormone involve in motion sickness, such as growth hormone, prolactin, anti-diuretic hormone, cortisol, acetylcholine, NE, ACTH and renin et al, some of which are vital to the metabolism.When sea sickness happening, the contents of iron in serum decreased remarkablely, such shows sea sickness can influence the metabolism of iron.Abnormal metabolism of iron can share or induce the development of disease in the pathological and stress state. Deficiency or excess of iron can bring about much functional impairment and affect the normal function of the cells. The change of iron in the body significantly may play an important role in the occurrence of sea sickness.Sea sickness is an acute complicate stress response, if the abnormal iron state can't be put right, it will not only aggravate the symptom of sea sickness but also affect the other function of the iron.So the researches of the mechanism of sea sickness based on the metabolism of microelements may be contribute to the preventive and therapeutic use of anti-sea sickness.ObjectiveThe aim of the study is to detect the change of iron in the rats of simulated sea sickness and the influence of different iron level to the incidence of seasickness and the probable mechanism so as to relieve the symptom and reduce the incidence of the sea sickness and render the foundation of the diet intervention.Methodl.The change of the content of iron in the stimulated sea sickness rats25 male SD rats were randomly divided into sea sickness group and normal control group, the sea sickness group rats were stimulated with a stimulator for a 1 hour/day, 4 days continuously. The seasickness formation was determined and evaluated by the consumption of kaolin and behavior change of the rats.The gain of body weight, the consumption of the feed, kaolin, the volume of the urine and water were registered. When the rats were killed immediately at the fourth day after the excitation, the figure of Hb was detected. Blood and the organs were reserved, the amounts of iron in serum, organs and urine were measured by the colorimetry and atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Inner ear was taken out to be made up paraffin slice to investigate the density of iron and the morphological change of the hair cell. 2.The influence of the intervention of iron on the sea sickness52 SD male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: low iron content sea sickness group, high iron content sea sickness group, normal iron content sea sickness group, and normal iron content control group. The rats of low iron content sea sickness group were fed with the iron content as 7.6ug/g, the high ones as 106.1ug/g, the normal ones as 59.6ug/g. Dispose of the specimen was as the same as the first experiment, and the activity change of the SDH in the cerebrum, cerebellum was detected.Resultsl.The influence of sea sickness on the metabolism of ironThe results of measurements showed that kaolin consumption increased gradually, the volume of water and urine decreased, while the figure of Hb increased. Accompanied with these changes, the sea sickness rats became dull and responsed slowly.Compared with that of the normal control rats, the contents of iron in serum, liver,cerebrum, cerebellum, in the seasickness group were significantly increased, whereas the content of iron in adrenal gland was significantly decreased. In urine, the content of iron on the 1st rotation day was decreased remarkably, whereas increased on the 2nd and 3rd day. There were tendency to increase of iron content in heart, brain stem and hypothalamus, but had no statistic differences.The density of iron in the inner ear of the seasickness group decreased, the morphology of hair cell was hurt.The consumption of kaolin and the change of behavior verifi...
