Objective To study the expression of PTEN,P27 and CyclinDl in human renal cell carcinoma, and to explore these proteins expression and their correlations. Methods PTEN,P27 and CyclinDl expression were studied in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of 44 cases renal cell carcinoma and in 10 cases nomal kidney cortex tissue by means of immunohistochemixa staining method. Results The positive rates of these three expression products in renal cell carcinoma as follows: 40.9%(PTEN),52.3%(P27),63.6%(CyclinDl), and in nomal kidney cortex tissues as follows: 100%PTEN 20%(P27) 30%(CyclinD 1) The expression product of PTEN was found to be negatively correlated to the degree of diffrentiation and the clinical staging of renal cell carcinoma..P27 and CyclinDl were found to be negatively correlated to the histological tumor grades and were not correlation to the clinical staging of renal cell carcinoma. The expression of PTEN has not correlation to the expression of P27. CycliDl. But the expression rate of P27.CyclinDlwere positively correlated. Conclusions The expression of PTEN has negatively correlated to the pathological grade and the clinical staging of renal cell carcinoma ;P27and CyclinDl were negatively correlated to the pathological grade and were not correlated to the clinical staging of renal cell carcinoma. Indicating that PTEN, P27, CyclinDl might be an useful prognostic marker in renal cell carcinoma. P27 or CyclinDl may not be the primary downstream genes of PTEN in renal cell carcinoma .
