Objective:To analyze the clinical data in 164 in-patients with alcoholic liver disease (ALD) in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in recent 10 years, and to study the morbidity and clinical characteristics, so as to understand ALD in a greater extent and to provide theoretical basis for an early diagnosis and treatment. Methods:The clinical data of 164 patients with ALD were analyzed statistically, which included history of alcohol intake, clinical manifestations, liver function tests and radiology results. The diagnosis was based on the ALD diagnosis standards in Nanjing Meeting held in October of 2002.Results:The morbidity of ALD, especially alcoholic liver cirrhosis is increasing annually. Those at forty to fifty are susceptible. Measurements of AST/ALT, GGT, TBIL and TG are of important significance in diagnosis of alcoholic hepatitis, while the decrease of A/G ratio indicates the progression of disease. Those with chronic viral hepatitis have poor prognosis and would be more likely to develop into liver cancer. The main causes for death are the complications at late stage of liver cirrhosis. Conclusion:The severity and prognosis of ALD may be related to the long-term alcohol abuse history (including the amount and duration of drinking). There is a tendency of increase annually and younger patients are affected. AST/ALT, GGT, TBIL and TG should be detected timely for the patients with alcohol addiction in order to diagnose and treat earlier so as to improve their prognosis.
