Objective:To study the action of rhBMP when we use it in a condylar fractures of rabbits who are not given sufficient vitamin D and that fracture is not fixed. Methods: We made model of condylar fractures of rabbits, and divided these rabbits into two groups at random. One was given rhBMP, another wasn't given anything. After 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks and 6 weeks, the interfaces of fracture ends were observed with film, x-ray, light microscope, scanning electronic microscope and calcium content. Results: The interfaces and surface of fractures ends with rhBMP are better than control group about healing time and healing level, there is not definitive different about recoverying time after anesthesia of operation; we could find the weight change rule of every rabbit before and after operation is similar; tissue slice also show experiment group with rhBMP for active endochondral ossification, the number of ostoblast is different from the control group (p<0.01),the align of the trabecula also is not same, experiment group is along the long axis of mandible , but control group has not rule. At the same time, the experiment group has definitive vascular growing, the scale of congestive after 1 week is bigger(p<0.01).The film shows the surface of fracture ends there are much crocallus at early time of 1week in the experiment group and bone reconstructive time is faster and the shape after bone modeling is similar with early fracture. On the contrary, the crocallus of the control group growth as bulging and not beautiful, there is often detective at some area. By X-ray check ,we could find the experiment group has bone conjoint after the first week of fracture, and the average light density and light density are different from the control group(p<0.01),and the content of calcium of fracture ends of bone after delification is not for the same level(p<0.01).Transmission Electronic microscope indicates osteoblast and osteoclast of the experiment group all are activity, there are bone growing among the fracture ends. By experiment, we could uncover at the situation of non sufficient of vitamin D and micrmovement of fracture ends while mastication for experiment group the healing of fracture is changed, and has the simile result with publications. Conclusions: By our experiment, we can certify that rhBMP can shorten the healing time of condylar fracture of rabbit with non fixation and sufficient vitamin D .
