Purpose:To detect the expression of metallothionein in rectal adenocarcinoma and in their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue, and to study the correlation of MT with their clinicalpathological features, bcl-2 as well as PCNA in rectal adenocarcinoma. Methods:We determind the MT levels by immunohistochemical staining SP in 50 rectal adenocarcinoma and in 50 their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue, assessed the relation of MT expression to their clinicalpathological features in rectal adenocarcinoma. With the same methods,we detected the expression of bcl-2 as well as PCNA in rectal adenocarcinoma and analyse their relativity with MT. Result:1.The pattern of MT expression is obviously different between rectal adenocarcinoma and their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue. The distribution of MT staining in rectal adenocarcinoma is uneven, and the distribution of positive cell also is uneven.Positive staining is obviously stronger in nucleus than that in plasm. While in their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue, the distribution of MT staining is even 2.The expression level and positive expression rate of MT in rectal adenocarcinoma is significantly lower than that in their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue (P<0.0001) (X2=17.64 P<0.0001).3. The expression level and positive expression rate of MT is related to the differation degree of tumor, clinical duke staging, aswell as lymph node metastasis in rectal adenocarcinoma ,The expression level and positive expression rate of MT is lower in high defferiation adenocarcinoma than that in medius and lower differation adenocarcinoma(P<0.05)(P<0.05), is lower in clinical duke staging,A and B than that in staging C and D(P<0.05) (X2=4.33,P<0.05);.The expression level of MT is lower in the group of non-metastasis than that in the group of lymph node metastasis(P<0.05);4 There is significantly positive correlation in the expression leve between MT and PCNA (R=0.68 P<0.0001)。5.There is significantly positive correlation in the expression leve between MT and bcl-2 (R=0.303 P<0.05)Conclusion: 1.The pattern of MT expression is obviously different between rectal adenocarcinoma and their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue.2.The expression level and positive expression rate of MT in rectal adenocarcinoma is significantly lower than that in their corresponding incisal edge normal tissue 3. The relativity of expression level of MT is related to the differation degree, clinical duke staging,as well as lymph node metastasis in rectal adenocarcinoma 4 There is significantly positive correlation in the expression level between MT and PCNA as well as bcl-2 in rectal adenocarcinoma...
