| Objective To study human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) in peripheral venous blood from patients with transitional cell carcinoma of bladder(TCC)and its relation to the biological malignant potentials of TCC. Methods Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detection of hTERTmRNA expression in the peripheral blood from patients with bladder carcinoma. Results 30 bladder cancer cases expressed hTERTmRNA,while normal tissues had no expression of hTERTmRNA.The expression level of hTERTmRNA of bldder cancer was significantly different from normal bladder. The expression level of hTERTmRNA in peripheral venous blood from patients with TCC has correlation with cancer stages(F=176.814,P<0.01).While the expression level of hTERTmRNA has no correlation with cancer glades(F=2.390,P>0.10).Conclusions hTERTmRNA RT-PCR is highly specific and might be used as an early indicator of hematogenous metastasis of bladder carcinoma cells and for monitoring treatment response of TCC. |
