Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes in the wettability of 3 types of modified hydrophilic silicone rubber impression materials after immersion in 4 kinds of disinfectant solutions in different time interval: l0min, 30min and 60min. So it may provide the reference for the clinical application.Materials and methods: The same 80 impressions were made respectively for each type of impression material in the same metal mould. 80 impressions were divided into 4 groups and were treated with 2% alkaline glutaraldehyde, 0.5% iodophor, 0.02% chlorine dioxide, 5.25% sodium hypochlorite, respectively. In each group 5 were left untreated as control, 15 were treated: every 5 impressions were immersed for lOmin, 30min and 60min, respectively. The contact angles were measured through the Sessile drop method before and after treatment. The changes of the contact angles were evaluated and analyzed. Results: For each type of impression material, the contact angles increased significantly after immersion for lOmin, 30min and 60min, respectively (P<0.05).Conclusion: The wettability of 3 types of modified hydrophilic silicone rubber impression materials decreased after immersion in 4 kinds of disinfectant solutions.
