Objective To study therapeutic effect of juvenile endemic Goitre by combined auricular-acupuncture and iodine salt. Methods Seventy-five cases of juvenile endemic goitres were randomly divided into two groups. One were treated with combined auricular-acupuncture and iodine salt, the other were fed only iodine salt. There were some auricular points selected, such as jing , neifenmi , pizhixia, pi, wei, gan, shen. Both of them were treated for three periods of treatment, which it took twenty-two days. To observe the clinical results of the two groups. Results (1)The effective rate was respectively 90.48 % and 63.63% in the treatment group and the control group. There was significant difference in the markedly effective rate between the two groups (P< 0.05). (2)The combined treatment group could improve serum total tri iodothyronine (T3) in the patients, contrarily, decrease thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) and urine iodine, which were superior to the only iodine salt group, and there were significant difference before and after the combined treatment in contents of T3 , TSH and urine iodine (P<0. 05).Conclusion The results showed that the therapeutic effect of combined auricular-acupuncture and iodine salt was obviously better than that by iodine salt. When fed with the invariablenes quantity of iodine salt, the combined auricular-acupuncture and iodine salt treatment is superior to that in the control group .The combined treatment has good effect in the relieving and eliminating goitre .regulates thyroid hormone improves the ability of absorbing iodine, and regulars zangfu .
