| Objective: To investigate the association between a 27-bp variable number of tandem repeat(VNTR) polymorphism of the ecNOS gene and ischemic cerebral vascular disease (ICVD).Methods: Polymerase chain reaction was performed for the genotypes of all patients and control subjects. Data were compared between patients and control subjects using the unpaired t test or x 2 test. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the independent roles of the polymorphism of the eNOS and other risk factors. Results: The ab genotype distribution and a allele frequencies of eNOS gene were significantly higher in ICVD group(22.36%,12.5%) than in control group(12.28%,7.0%), statistical differences between ICVD group and control group were significant (P<0.05).The OR of ab genotype to ICVD was 2.05 (95%CI:1.32~4.10,P<0.05).After other risk factors were corrected by multivariate logistic regression analysis, the OR was 1.98(p<0.05). The ratio of ages, hypertension, diabetes and smoker in patient group were observed higher than in control group, differences between the patient group and the control group.(P<0.05)Although the ratio of hyperlipidemia in the patient group was higher than the control group, there was not observe difference between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion: There were association between the VNTR of eNOS in intron 4 and ICVD. The eNOS a allele may be an independent risk factor for ischemic cerebral vascular disease. |
