Objective: To investigate the influence of radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) on circulating activated platelets and to observe the inhibition roles of ticlopidine in expression of platelet membrane glucoprotein fibrinogen receptor (FIB-R) of the blood samples. Methods : Forty patients with superventricular tachycardia under different treatment were randomly devided into two groups: group A being given ticlopidine twice a day and group B being used as a control. Blood samples were taken at 4 times points including before electrophysiologic examination, after electrophysiologic examination, immediately after RFCA and 1 hour after RFCA. Expression of FIB-R was measured for each blood sample with flow cytometry technique. Results : Blood levels of FIB-R were significantly increased immediately after RFCA [group A: (1.56±0.33)% vs (3.96±0.61)%, P<0.01; group B: (l.52±0.30)% vs (6.18±0.76)%, P<0.01]. In group A, the levels of FIB-R immediately after RFCA and 1 hour after RFCAwere significantly lower than those of the corresponding points in group B[(3.96±0.61)% vs (6.18 ± 0.76)%;(2.62 ± 0.65)% vs (4.81±0.75)%, P<0.01]. Conclusion: It is indicated that RFC A could promote the activation of platelet, which may be prevented from activating with ticlopidine.
