| Objective This experimental study was aim to investigate the effect of osteogenesis of cPCB (composite porcine cancellous bone) which were made from PCB (porcine cancellous bone) combined with concentration of Bone Extract growth polypepotide and type-I collagen. Methords Two lateral radial defects , 15 millimeters long, were created in forty skeletally mature New Zealand White Rabbits. Autogenous cortical bone, PCB, and cPCB were implanted into the defects respectively. Radiographs of the defects were taken at immediate,2,4,8,12,16 weeks postoperatively. The values of gray scale of the defects were measurred with Radiomorphometry. At 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks postoeratively, the animals were killed, and bone formationwere examined histologically and histomorphometrically. Results Bony union formed, and defects were repaired in group of cPCB within observational period . At 8, 12 ,16 weeks, the data of gray scale in defects of cPCB were significantly higher than that of cPCB group. In group of cPCB: woven bone occurred at 4 weeks postoperatively; lamellar trabecular bone formed at 8 weeks; trabeculae were regular at 12 weeks postoperatively, moreover, medullary cavity occurred, which contained bone marrow tissue in some of samples; at 16 weeks, trabeculae became rough and strong , part of which were rebuilded into cortical bone; whereas in PCB group: The pores of implants were filled up with fibrous tissues throughout the observational period, and there is little bone tissues occurred at the site of host-material interface in 3/8 samples at 16 weeks time-point. The group of cPCB had a significantly greater area than the defects treated with PCB at every time-period (P < 0.01). Bony union formed and the defecfs were repaired within 8 weeks in group of autograft. Conclusion cPCB possesses osteoinductivity, and is an ideal material used in bone defect repairing . |
