Pinellia tuber is the dry tuber of Pinellia ternata (Thnub.) Breit. It is aboundant in Shandong . Pinellia tuber(processed with ginger) has alkaloid, polysaccharide etc. According to acid stain and sulfuric acid-anthrone colorimetry, we determined the content of alkaloid and polysaccharide. In order to carry on the Chinese traditional medicine, having the aid of the new vomiting model in Minks, we study the actions of pinellia tuber. The follows are the results:1 The content of alkaloid was 0. 0283%, The average recovery was 101. 56%, RSD was 2.35%(n=5).2 The content of polysaccharide was 2. 533mg.g-1,The average recovery was 99.82%, RSD was 2. 31%(n=5).3 Polysaccharide of Shandong pinellia tuber (processed with ginger) inhibited the retching, emesis induced by coppersulfate(40mg . kg-1,ig) were 7.0 and 6.0 (p<0. 05).4 Alkloid of Shandong pinellia tuber(processed with ginger)inhibited the retching, emesis induced by apomorphine (1.6 mg . kg-1, sc)were 10. 3 and 2. 3. The latency of vomit is prolonged noticeably (p<0. 05).5 Alkloid of Shandong pinellia tuber(processed with ginger)inhibited the retching, emesis induced by cisplatin (7. 5mg.kg-1, ip) were 54. 5 and 8. 0 (p<0. 01).6 Inhibitory of Polysaccharide of Shandong pinellia tuber (processed with ginger) (10, 5,1g.ml-1) against implanted S180,H22 and EAC tumors in mice were 57.5, 32.9, 26.0%; 36.3, 32.4, 38.4% and 20.5, 28.9, 27.2%.7 Alkloid and polysaccharide of Shandong pinellia tuber(processed with ginger) inhibited the emesis induced by rotation was insignificant (p>0.05).
