Along with the development of information technology, computer has been already applied to extensive fields. A main characteristic of the today's office work is VDT(Visual Display Terminal). The wide application of the computer and relevant equipments, such as printer, Fax-machine, telephone, etc, has enormously changed the type of handling official business. This kind of change has formed the conflict to traditional office furniture and office space for handling official business. Namely the function of the traditional office furniture and design of yardstick can't already satisfy the demand that VDT handling official business needed. This conflict brings the relevant job injury to computer user.Foreign organizations of human engineering have carrying on relatively deep research with the illness and weariness linked to office work of computer use. It is showed with the investigation of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) that the person worked with computer and other modern equipments would be hurt with the following injuries: first type is musculoskeletal disorder injuries(MSIS Or MDIS), second type is repetitive motion injuries(RMSI) and the tense quality injury of eyes(Eye Strains).Today in our country, there is few research about the job fatigue and injuries of computer user in modern office work. Ergonomics application in the field of the layout and the furniture design for computer used office work has not been attached much more importance. In the opposite, computer office systems come into office with fast popularization. The modernized equipment is bringing great convenience to people, at the same time also threatening and bringing injury constantly to people's health .Because the use of these equipment on traditional office furniture will form a uncomfortable work posture of operator, even can make injury to the human body. Based on such a background, at the foundation of forefathers' study, with the ergonomic research methods, this paper have been carried on to make the investigation and research about the illness and fatigue for office work with computer.The subject has taken an open-panel office work place of a certain furniture enterprise as research object, using ergonomic method such as: investigation method of the questionnaire, survey of practical scene, research approach of taking a photograph etc, and has made diagnoses about the contents of computer-using office work, overall arrangements of position and dispositions of equipment and office furniture, making out the reasons as "things" influencing on the work postures. The subject made investigation and statistical analysis of work postures of computer-using workers, making out the reasons influencing on forming "unnatural" posture. The subject has made investigation and statistical analysis of illness symptoms of computer-using workers, analyzing the cause of those and explaining the characteristic of these occupational diseases. Through these analyses, the paper summarize out the main factors influencing on the fatigue and disease caused during computer-used office work. Aiming at these factors, the paper put forward corresponding measures to lightening the occur possibility of work fatigue and diseases. Including the rational design of work content arrangement, good workplace layout of furniture and equipments and improvement design ofoffice furniture.As part of office work efficiency research, the paper put forward some relevant direction to the malleability of this subject at the end.This paper only done some basic investigation and research on computer-using office work.. If the result of this survey and study can not solve all problems, at least it will show out the existence and importance of the problems.
