To compare the diagnosic value of SHG and TVS in patients with endometri-al polyp of uterus . TVS is simple, ease-use and often used to evaluate endometri-um of uterus . However, Its sensitivity and specificity is not high in diagnosing endometrial polyp. SHG is a scanning method on the basis of the interventioned ultrasonography. Owing to the difference of the acoustic impedance between the contrast agent and the endometrium . When the uterine cavity was distended with the negative contrast agent, Doctor can observe the shape of the uterine cavity and speculate the nature of the disease. So SHG is recommended to use in diag-nosising endometrial diseases by many experts. Some studies demonstrated the diagnosic value of SHG is high in patients with endometrial polyps. To improve the level of diagnosis, we studied the diagnostic value of SHG in endometrial polyp . The objective of the paper is to compare the diagnosic value of 2D-SHG and TVS as well as 2D-SHG and 3D-SHG in patients with endometrial polyp by using the most comprehensively applied and standard statistics method in the world.MethodsTVS and SHG studies 47 patients who were suspected with endometrial dis-eases in the clinic, (mean age ,36 years). All transvaginal US examinations were performed on an ultrasonic machine ( voluson 730, medison) , equipped with a multi-frequency transvaginal transducer(5-9MHZ). The result of exami-nation is recorded on hard disk. After TVS ,The2D-SHG and 3D-SHG was per-formded. The result of examination is recorded on hard disk, histopathologic ex-amination was performed in all patients after ultrasound examination.At first, we compared 3D-SHG with 2D-SHG by using chi square test. The statistic software is SPSS 10.0.Second,we compared TVS with 2D-SHG by using ROC curves. All trans-vaginal sonographic images were interpreted by one of the authors according to the imaging recorded. The reader did not know the histopathologic examination findings. To estimate the likelihood that endometrial polyp was diagnosed, the readers used a five-point confidence scale in which 1 , indicated definitely endometrial polyp; 2, probably endometrial polyp; 3, indeterminate; 4, probably not endometrial polyp; 5,definitely not endometrial polyp. ROC analysis was made with software of ROC for Windows 0.90.ResultShape of ROC curves and area under the curves of 2D-SHG and TVS groups is obviously different . ROC analysis indicated that there was significant difference (P <0. 001) between TVS and 2D-SHG groups with area under the ROC curve =0. 620 on TVS and Area under the ROC curve =0. 978 on 2D-SHG . 2D-SHG is superior to TVS in diagnosing endometrial polyp.3D-SHG and 2D-SHG have same diagnostic value, but 3D-SHG can provide more information than 2D-SHG.Conclusion1. SHG was superior to TVS obviously in diagnosing endometrial polyp of u-terus.2. The accuracy rate of 3D-SHG is same with 2D-SHG in diagnosing polyps, but 3D-SHG can provid additional information .3. Roc curves is simple , accurate and has vast value in evaluating the system of imaging diagnosis.
