Blattella germanica is one of the most important and the hardest to control city pests in the world, and it's rising up recent years. Use of plant-based materials is one of the most important methods of Blattella germanica biology control. Effects of 3 kinds of plant-based materials including 14 materials on Blattella germanica were studied, Effects of 2 kinds of expellents and 2 kinds of pesticides were also studied, for the propose of comparation with the plant-based materials and evaluation of the latter.Toxicity and repellent activity of several plant-based compounds on Blattella germanica were studied, results showed that rotenone, toosendanin and azadirachtin had stomach toxic effect on Blattella germanica, rotenone showed high stomach toxicity and all insects died after 8 hours, matrine also has deformative effect on Blattella germanica , matrine and toosendanin can affect oviposition of Blattella germanica; repellent activity of these botanicals was further studied, results showed that bering hydrochloridum, azadirachtin and sparteinehave had repellent activity against Blattella germanica, observation also showed that rotenone and bering hydrochloridum had high contact toxicity against Blattella germanica, the time of all insects knocked down were 8 and 48 hours.Bioassay of different concern of Toosendanin to Blattella germanica showed that the larger the concern was and the faster the Blattella germanica died, the LT50 of Toosendanin of 0.5 % , 1 % , 2% to Blattella germanica was 18, 15.2, 14.1 days.Toosendanin of 0.25% did't have dead effect to Blattella germanica any more.Research on four plant extracts showed that tangerine had high stomach and contact toxity to Blattella germanica. Tangerine, garlic, mustard and ginger showed food non-preference effect to Blattella germanica. The repellent rate of Tangerine, garlic, mustard and ginger of the first day was 77.8%, 42.5%, 48.8%, 61.1% and 96.5%, effective time was 4, 7, 2, 8 and 14 days.Bioassay of 1% clove oil, 1% turpentine oil, camphor on Blattella germanica showed that repellent rate of clove oil and turpentine oil to Blattella germanica were 92.8% and 81.5%,camphor did't have effect. The repellent rate of clove oil and turpentine oil to Blattella germanica reduced fast by the time, especially the turpentine oil showed very weak repellent effect in a week.Repellent rate of 10 % DMP and 10 % DEET to Blattella germanica was 56.7 % and 82.4 % after 1 hours.Effect of repellent rate was reduced fast by the time, especially the DEET showed no repellent effect in the second day.and repellent effect of DMP was disappeared after 5 days.
