Objective To evaluate the effects of ischemic preconditioning on clinical results of the first acute myocardial infarction(AMI). Methods 48 cases of the first AMI were divided into two groups: ischemic preconditioning(IP) group with angina within 24 hours before AMI onset, control group without angina. Infarct size, peak value of myocardial enzyme, cardiac function, severe cardiac complications were investigated respectively. Results the infarct size was smaller in the IP group than that in the control group(P<0.05), the peak value of myocardial enzyme was lower in the IP group than that in the control group(P<0.01), the left ventricular injection fraction(LVEF) was better in the IP group than that in the control group(P<0.01), the incidences of severe heart failure, serious arrhythmia were lower in the IP group than those in the control group(P<0.05), while there were no significant differences in the incidence of cardiogenic shock , cardiac aneurysm and the in-hospital cardiogenic mortality between two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Angina within a short period before AMI, functioning as ischemic preconditioning, reduces infarct size, preserves left ventricular function, and decrease the incidence of severe cardiac complications.
