| Objective: The main clinical manifestations of coraeal endotheliitis are endothelial turbidity ,thick folds on descement's membrace,stromal edema, and keratic precipitate(KP) scattering behind the lesion. Some patients maybe present with increased intraocular press and ididocyclitis. It's the first time that Khodadoust had described a kind of comeal entity named endotheliitis in 1982.Recently the reports of endotheliitis are increasing, most of them is about etiology ,such as HSV-I etc. but there are few cases about endothelial morphology .The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of endotheliitis on central comeal endothelium.Methods: there are 10 cases (10 eyes) of the study group suffering from comeal endotheliitis. The central endothelium checked by contact specular microscopy was analyzed for cell density, coefficient variation of cell size and hexgonality after cured for 4-12 weeks. The other eyes are the control groups. Pared sample T test was used to statistically analyze data. Statistical significance was considered at P<0.01.Result: there were 10 cases (10 eyes) of the study group suffering from comeal endotheliitis. Mean comeal central cell density of the study group is 1981 ±181 个 /mm2 ,the control group is 2284 ±315 个/mm2 ,P=0.004 .Mean coeffient variation of the study group is 53%,the control group is 45%, p=0.Hexagonality of the study group is 34%,the control group is 43%,p=0.002. it implied that there were significant differences between the study group and the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion: Endotheliitis will lead to serious morphological changes of endothelium. Mean comeal central cell densityand and Hexagonality deceased significantly(13.00%&20.93%) after endotheliitis(P<0.01). Mean Coeffient variation coeffient variation increased significantly(17.78%) after endotheliitis(P<0.01).we should pay more attention to it in clinical work.There are still some Bullous keratopathyand some other diseases excluding here ,we should do some further studying later.
