ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical feature, characteristics of acoustic and aero-dynamic peremeters of functional dysphonia contrasted with the normal adults and evaluate the value of acoustic and aero-dynamic measurements in the diagnosis and treatment of functional dysphonia. MethodsThe laryngoscopic , acoustic and aero-dynamic examinations were made in 78 patients with functional dysphonia and 50 normal adults . The glottic images were observed and acoustic and aero-dynamic characteristics of vowel /a:/ were analyzed. ResultsIn 78 patients with functional dysphonia , the parameters of jitter, shimmer, NNE were increased. F0 was increased in patients with hyperfunctional dysphonia and decreased in patients with hypofunctional dysphonia. MAR was decreased in patients with hyperfunctional dysphonia and increased in hypofunctional dysphonia. MPT was decreased in all functional dysphonia. 91.03%(71/78) patients with functional dysphonia had normal acoustic characteristics. The spectrograph showed pathologic changes of harmonic waves and formants in middle and high frequencies in both hyperfunctional and hypofunctional dysphonia. ConclusionThe acoustic analysis by computer technique , aero-dynamic measurement and the examination by laryngoscopy are of value inthe diagnosis and treatment of functional dysphonia.
