0BJECT: To study the biocharacters ofculturing cardiomyocytes from atrial appendage of adultrabbits in vitro. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Culturingcardiomyocytes from 11 adult New Zealand rabbits in vitro.Count the number of cardiomyocytes before startingculture and in the 12th. the 26th. the 40th day of the culture.Examination the DNA content of the cells in the 12th andthe 26th day of the culturing. Examinat ion the percentageof cardiomyocytes by immunocytochemi stry before theculturing and the 40th day of the culturing.0bservcmicroconformation of the cells by electron microscopeafter 26 days of the culturing. Culturing thecardiomyocytes which frozen in -80℃ for 8 weeks beforethawing. RESULTS: The number of the culturing cells was0. 54±0. 06 × 107. 7. 38±0. 73 × 10. 58. 00± 16. 14 × 107. 24. 91± 11. 86 × 10 7; The examination for the DNA contents showedthat the S stage cells was 22. 2% and 56. 5%; The percentageof cardiomyocytes was 82 ±11% and 87 ± 18%: There was crossstriation in the cells under electron microscope, Thecel ls had pro 1 iferated in cu1turing after the thawing.C0NCLUSI0N: The cardiomyocytes from atria1 appendage ot'adult rabbits cou1d be pro1 iferated in culturing ex vivo.Atrial appendage may be a idea1 material for providingcel 1s for the cel 1u1ar cardiomyoplasty.
