Objective To observe the changes of serum TNF-a levels in different pathologic phrases of patients after infected HBV and its related factors.Method The ELISA method was used in this study. Thereare 30 normal subjects (control group) and 86 age-matched hepatitis B patients (patient group), including 23 a-cute hepatitis; 38 chronic hepatitis; 12 cirrhosis and 13 severe hepatitis. Results Concentration of serum TNF-a in patients with different type of viral hepatitis B, cirrhosis and severe hepatitis were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0. 01). Moreover, Concentration of serum TNF-a in patients with severe hepatitis were the highest among those groups. There are a close positive correlations between serum TNF-a and clinical expresson. Concentration of serum TNF-a in the deed patients with fulminant hepatitis were also higher than those in the survivals(P<0. 01).Conclusion Our results suggested that serum TNF-a maybe participate in liver inflammatory injury process, their levels can reflect the degree of liver damage in patients with viral hepatitis B, cirrhosis and severe hepatitis. Thus, detecting the serum TNF-a could predict the prognosis in patients with severe hepatitis.
