Objective Through studying the effect of compound ion salt in blood pressure and other related factors of spontaneous hypertensive rats(SHR) , we try to discuss the prevent action of compound ion salt in spontaneous hypertension.Methods The rats were treated with compound ion salt and common salt in different levels. During the period, the blood pressure were measured every week. After 8 weeks, the rats were killed , then blood and urine were collected. To study the effect of compound ion salt in blood pressure and other related factors of spontaneous hypertension, the urine sodium, urine potassium, urine calcium, blood glucose, plasma insulin, plasma renin activity (PRA), plasma angiotensin II , serum nitric oxide (NO), serum nitric oxide synthase (NOS ), total cholesterol and triglyceride were measured. We also measured the ratio of collagen I and collagen III of aorta to investigate the effect of compound ion salt in atherosclerosis.Results 1 .The compound ion salt had apparent anti-hypertensive effect .The blood pressure of high salt case group was lower than that of high salt control group (P<0. 01) , and had no difference with the blood pressure of low salt control group (P>0. 05 ) . 2. Compared with low salt groups, the 24 hours urine sodium of high salt groups were high (P<0. 01) , but between the high salt groups , there had no difference ( P>0. 05 ) . The 24 hours urine potassium of high salt case group was higher than those of high salt control group and low salt groups (P<0. 01 ) . The ratio of urine sodium and potassium of high salt case group was apparent lower than that of high salt control group (P<0. 01 ) . After dieting with high salt , the urine calcium increased , the urine calcium of high salt case group was higher than that of high salt control group ( P<0. 01 ) . S.The PRA of high salt control group was higher than those of low salt groups, the PRA of high salt case group was lower than that of high salt control group(P<0. 01 ). The ATII level of high salt control group was higher than others (P<0. 01 ) .4. The serum NO of high salt control group was lower than low salt groups (P<0. 05) ,but the serum NO of high salt case group had no difference with low salt groups(P >0. 05 ) . The serum NOS of high salt groups were higher than those of low salt groups (P<0.05) .5. The blood glucose of the four groups had no difference (P >0. 05) . The plasma insulin of the high salt control group was higher than others (P<0. 05 ) . The insulin sensitive index of high salt control group was lower than others (P<0. 05) . The blood glucose and plasma insulin of high salt case group had no difference with low salt groups ( P>0. 05 ) . 6.There was no difference of the total cholesterol and triglyceride among the four groups (P>0. 05) . 7. The ratio of collagen I and collagen III of the high salt control group was higher than others (P<0. 05) , the other three groups had no difference of each other (P> 0.05) .Conclusion 1 . The compound ion salt had anti-hypertensive effect. 2. The compound ion salt had no adverse effect to renin-angiotensin system. 3. The compound ion salt did not decrease serum NO. 4. The compound ion salt did not increase insulin resistance of SHR. 5. The compound ion salt retarded atherosclerosis.
