Astragulus is the traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Called "the king of Tonics" . It has widely been made preparation in the treatment of "weak" . Modern pharmacological study of Astragulus show that:Astragulus has double direction of regulationon immunity. It not only the body who situated in hypoimmunity to normal, but also decrease the level of high-immunity. In recent years, there are many reports about Astragulus. It goes through a process from single to its abstractive components. Astragulus include many basic chemical component, eg, Astragulus Polysaccharide and Flavonoides. There are lots of reports about Astragulus Polysaccharide, but little Flavonoides. In this experiment, AF were contineously studied based on the data described before. This study adopted HC' s mice as a model of hypoimmunity and the subsets of T lymphocytes:CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+ and cytokines IL-4,IFN-γ as the indicators of obseration. Our study showed that AF can promote the level of CD4+T cell, CD8+T cell, increase the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ and recover hypoimmunity situation, enhance the production of cytokine IFN-r , has no influence on the expression of cytokine IL-4 in experimental animals. On the data mentioned above, we suggest that AF may improve the immune functions , especially may improve the cell mediated immune and regulate the disturbanced immunological functions.
