Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and microstructural degeneration of bone tissue, with a consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture risk. It is considered that the disease is associated with Hormone control, nutritional state, physical agent, immune function, genetic polarity and so on. But the etiological factors and mechanisms are very complicated, until today they aren' t clarificated completely yet.Many studies have indicated that the major factor caused aging is reactive oxygen species, and osteoporosis is a disease correlated closely with the processes of human aging, Therefore if is there the correlation between reactive oxygen species and osteoporosis?Up to now, no researchers do the clinical study of correlation of reactive oxygen species and osteoporosis. Some scholars have started researching relationships between reactive oxygen species and these factors, -such as osteoclast,, osteoblasUbone matrix., estrogen and cytokine. These data indicate that reactive oxygen species can improve activity of osteoclast, reduce the number of osteoblast, directly take part in degradation of bone matrix, related closely with estrogen and cytokine. So we think that reactive oxygen species may take part in and accelerates course of osteoporosis by influencing osteoclast and osteoblast. A scholar has researshed the changes of reactive oxygen species of rat' s osteoporosis models recently. The medical science kingdom pay more attention to the action that the reactive oxygen species act on osteoporosis.In the research of the etiological factors of traditional Chinese medicine for osteoporosis, we find that osteoporosis is related to weak kidney and lien and congestion, the traditional Chinese medicine of benefiting kidney and lien and relieving congestion can prevent and cure osteoporosis. In the research of the relation between reactive oxygen species and Chinese medical science, we find that weak kidney and lienand congestion are related to the metabolic derangement of reactive oxygen species. The traditional Chinese medicine of benefiting kidney and lien and relieving congestion can clean strongly reactive oxygen species. So from the point of view of traditional Chinese medical science, we also think that reactive oxygen species is related closely to osteoporosis, the mechanisms of action which the traditional Chinese medicines prevent and cure osteoporosis are probably related to the role which the traditional Chinese medicines clean strongly reactive oxygen species.In order to clarify the correlation between reactive oxygen speciesand osteoporosis, This research selects postmenopause women which fit theresearch' s standard and examines their bone mineral density(BMD), anddivides them into osteoporosis group, bone mass reduction group and normalgroup base on their BMD. Then we examine their serum superoxidedismutase(SOD), malondialdehyde(MDA), anti tartrate acid phosphatase(TRAP), osteocalcin(BGP) , I type collagen telopeptide (ICTP), estradiol(E2) and interleukin-6(IL-6), and compare the difference of SOD and MDAevery group, analysis the correlation of SOD and MDA part with BMD, TRAP,BGP, ICTP, E2 and IL-6.Result: ㏒erum MDA level is much higher in osteoporosis group and bone mass reduction group than those in normal group (P<0. 01) ;?㏒erum SOD level is much lower in osteoporosis group and bone mass reduction group than those in normal group (P<0. 01) ; (3)SOD level is positively correlated with BMD ?E2 and BGP (P<0.01) ; SOD level is negatively correlated with TRAP > ICTP and IL-6 (P<0. 01) ; @MDA level is negatively correlated with BMD^ BGP and E2 (P<0. 01) , MDA level is positively correlated with TRAP^ ICTP and IL-6 (P<0. 01) .This result has indicated that reactive oxygen species can improve activity of osteoclast, reduce the number and activity of osteoblast and accelerate degradation of bone matrix; Estrogen has the role of anti oxidation, the reduction of estrogen can lead to increasing of re...
