Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a common symptom in digestive system . Recent years in Chinese medicine area ,Chinese herb were often used to treat FD and having got good result . WeiChangNing mixture was experimental recipe of our hospital .To verify its curative effect and mechanism , we have done the animal experiment as follow.Objective To observe the effect of WeiChangNing mixture on the gastric emptying , gastric electrophysiologic function and serum molitin in rats and also investigate the mechanism of the mixture. Methods 12 to 20 weeks old Wistar rats 128 were divided into four groups as gastric liquid empting group , gastric solid empting, and gastric electrophysiologic group. Each of those group were divided into four group as distilled water group (N) ,dolphenliton group (D), small dosage of WeiChangNing mixture group(S) and large dosage of WeiChangNing mixture group(L). Gastric liquid and solid empting group were administered for 6 days continuously and then fasted for 24 hours. Then the rats were given the mixture of 0.1% methyl orange and food grinds by intragastrically. The emptying function of the mixture was detected 20 minute later . Serum molitin group were administered for 6 days continuously. After the last administering , vein blood were get to measure serum molitin by radioimmunology . Gastric electrophysiologic group were administered andsimultaneously gastroduodenal electric activity was measured with four tracts physiology monitor simultaneously. Results In group N , group (D), group(S) and group(L) respectively , the gastric emptying rates of liquid were 8.61±1.5%,12.1±2.9%,18.6±3.1% and 22.2±5.8% between every two group (p<0.05) ;Gastric emptying rates of solid were 9.2±0.7%, 12.7±1.2%, 19.8±3.7% and 20.0±3.2% between group (N) , group (D) and group(S) (p<0.05) while between group(S) and group(L) (p>0.05) The contents of serum molitin were 149.5±15.8 pg/ml , 185.1±21.7pg/ml ,230.4±12.4 pg/ml and 298.9±19.8pg/ml between every two group (p<0.05) .Electric activity frequency of gastrointestinal smooth muscle were 3.37±0.19/min, 4.1±0.35/min, 4.7±0.23/min and 5.32±0.32/min and the amplitude were 3.37±0.46mv, 3.86±0.31mv , 4.34±0.43mv and 5.42±0.53mv between every two group slow wave amplitude had significant different (p<0.05). Conclusions WeiChangNing mixture could raise the serum molitin lever, promote gastric liquid and solid emptying and augment gastroduodenal slow wave frequency and amplitude .
