Studies On Antitumor Active Constituents Of Dioscorea Septemloba Thunb.

Looking for the antitumor drugs from the plants has been an important part of studying them at present in the world. According to the methods specified by NCI, the cytotoxic experiment in vitro was studied and the results showed that the petroleum ether extract and the ethyl acetate extract of D. septemloba Thunb. had strong cytotoxic activity. In order to search for and make sure its antitumor effective components, the active constituents of these two parts were studied in this experiment.Dioscorea septemloba Thunb. used as Chinese folk medicine which can cure rheumatism, knee pain, gonalgia, waist pain, and so on. The active constituents of the petroleum ether extract and the ethyl acetate extract of D. septemloba Thunb. were studied in this experiment. 10 compounds were isolated by the methods of solvent extraction and silica gel column chromatography. Among them, 6 comp- ounds were determined by GC/MS, and they are:(1) 5-isopropyl-2,8-dimethyl -cyclodecanone,(2) 3,7-dimethyl-6-octen-1-ol-formate,(3)4,8-dimethyl-1,7-Nonadiene,(4)Dodecanoic acid, methyl easter,(5)N,N' -dinitro-1,2 -cyclohexanddiamine),(6)4-ol-1-Octyn；10 compounds were isolated by the methods of silica gel column chromatography. And according to the physical and chemical characters, using the methods of spectrographic ana- lysis, their chemical structures were identified. They are shown below respecti- vely:(7)β- sitosterol,(8)palmitic acid,(9)diosgenin,(10)ruscogenin.Compounds(1),(2),(3),(4),(5),(6),(10)were isolated from Dioscorea septemloba Thunb. for the first time.
