Objective: To study the effect of tetrandrine(Tet)on synaptic transmission in superior cervical ganglion(SCG) of the Wistar rats. Method:The means of intracellular recording techniques were used to investigate the effects of tetrandrine on synaptic transmission in SCG. Result: At the concentration of 1×10-6~1×10-4 mol/L, tetrandrine reversibly depressed the fast excitatory postsynaptic potential(f-EPSP) but not altered the membrane depolarization by application of acetylcholine (Ach) and carbachol (Carb). The membrane potential and memberane resistance of the sympathetic neurons were not significantly altered by tetrandrine. Conclusion:The results indicate that the inhibition on synaptic transmission in SCG of tetrandrine may be explained by presynaptic mechanism via blocking plasma membrane calcium influx...
