OBJECTIVE: We discuss the relationship between plasma tissue factor pathway inhibitor(TFPI) and that of promoter -287T-C polymorphism and unstable angina pectorisMETHODS: 102 patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP Group) and 100 patients those with angiography-proven no stenosis (control group) were selected. TFPI antigen were measured by ELISA kits. The gene segment of TFPI was amplified by PCR. The products of PCR were digested by Hind III. The genotype was analyzed by 2.5% agarose gel electrophoresis. RESULT: TFPI antigen level in UAP group(99.029+36.129 ng/ml) was higher than that in C group(74.323+33.608 ng/ml) (P<0.01). The frequency of T/T, T/C, C/C is similar. In all patients, the highest TFPI antigen level was C/C; The higher TFPI antigen level was T/C. CONCLUSION: TFPI acted as an inhibitor of tissue factor pathway reflected the vascular endothelial injury and the states of coagulation indirectly in unstable angina progression. Promoter -287T-C polymorphism beared no relationship to unstable angina. The patients with -287T-C polymorphism were predisposed to produce and release TFPI.
