objective: To establishment and evaluation of selective hepatic vagotomy rats model, so as to provide foundation for the study of glucose metabolic regulation mechanism. Method: 20 health Wistar rats were subjected to 2 groups by random: hepatic vagotomy HV, sham operation. Verify the validity of the hepatic vagotomy procedure according to morphology, staining liver tissue for vesicular acetylcholine transporter (VAChT) and insulin secretion by acute HV. Result: In the later 4 weeks, no one death in all groups. Verifying the validity of the hepatic vagotomy procedure according to morphology, using immunohistochemistry to evaluate the degree of denervation and monitored the regeneration of vagus nerve or not during the experiment.. Ultramicro structure research suggested that the nerve end section of model rats showed obvious involutional atrophy versus it's anterior vagal trunk and no neural regeneration. Conclusion: The methods of making selective hepatic vagotomy rats modal are reliable. The model has the following characteristics: stable, convenient and economy, thus provides foundation for the study of regulation of glycometabolism by vegetative nerve in the future.
