Specialized Medical Analysis System Based On Image-Pro Plus Development Platform

The purpose of this study is, based on Image-Pro Plus (IPP) development platform, to develop a specialized medical-image analysis system to meet the requirement of domestic doctors and researchers. Programmed by using Visual C++6. 0, Software Development Kit (SDK) and macro language of IPP, this system is composed of sampling, storage, preprocessing, data analysis and report. The quantitative measure of parameters mainly includes cytomorphological analysis, immunohistochemical analysis, morphometric measure of vascular network, etc.We utilize self-developed MVPCI-V3A card as image capture board. This IPP-based plug-in can accomplish many functions, such as sampling, display, storage, and setting video parameters and access mode.Since most of medical images are in poor quality, preprocessing is prerequisite for the consequent quantitative analysis. In view of the features of vascular images, we apply the method of template matching. We obtain a detecting orientation every -15?and then construct 12 different 13x13 templates, which are used to search for vessel segments along all possible directions. After the implementation of the 2-D Gaussian filters, blood vessels are clearly extracted from the background. Then making use of parallel-region segmentation and mathematical morphology, we can easily separate objectives from background according to histogram characters of HSI model or gray scale. Based on the processed images, we can do the further computerized quantitative measure of parameters including area, perimeter, integrated optical density, average diameter, shape factor, number of bifurcation and end points, etc.Our self-developed and localized system has a reliable property and a high ratio of performance and cost proved by our experiment. We are collecting the responses of users to improve and perfect it.
