| Objective: To evaluate the feature of primary liver cancer (PLC) tongue color objectively and reveal the relation between the feature and clinical experience, the setup of light environment, systemic installation and software design in study on Evaluation of PLC tongue color were investigated. Methods: In order to simulate the standard light environment, natural light source was replaced by the artificial one. In the design of head holder , ophthalmic slit lamp head holder was adapted, electromotive lifting table and mandibular arch torr being used as matching instruments, while the shelf of digital camera was installed on the table. In the system setup, digital camera was used. During the design of software, in light of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) wholism and the method of scanning picture element of full figure, standard value of tongue color can be worked out through the relation formula regarding Red (R) , Green (G) and Blue (B) color variable . In the clinical research, the tongue color of 59 cases of PLC were observed, which were analyzed by stepwise regression , as well as its relation to the clinical experience. Results: 1.The light environment created by the direct current no stroblelight is characteristic as below: color temperature of 6000K, illuminance of 3700 Lux, real color and high repeativity, which accesses the standard light environment. 2.The application of head holder stabilizes the relative position of irradiation area of tongue, digital camera and light source, avoiding the possible effect upon the lightness and credibility of the picture which may result from the instability of position. 3.The application of TCM wholism, scanning picture element of full figure and the special formula make the processed tongue color nearly identical to the tongue color under the standard light, in addition, achieving demonstration by detailed number 4. Established modules of clinical data inputing, data requesting and data outputting facilitate the statistical analysis. 5. The clinical analyses indicate, about the PLC patients, the 95% confidence interval of the tongue color standard value attained using this system was 28.458 2.271, certain association existing between some clinical symptoms, labouratory testings and treatment course, speaking more detailed, positive correlation being found between the degree of thirst , the tongue color standard value,and the deepening of red shade of tongue. While negative correIationexisting betWeen appetite and the tongue coIor standard value, poorappetite often goes with the decrease of the tOngue coIor standard vaIue,the darkening and deepening of purple shade of the tongue, so do thedensity of serum albumin and the number of tumor masses. There existspositive correlation between the PEI treatment and the tongue colorstandard vaIue, so does the cinobufacini treatment.The patientsreceiving tke cinobufacini treatment tended to show increase of thetongue coIor standard value, aIong with the deepening of red shade inthe tongue, while accompanied by increasing of treatment times, theopposite resuIts coming out.Conclusion: 1.The scientific setup of externaI environment can make theenvironment of photographic observation dome more stable andobjective, in which direct current no stroblelight was used as the lightsource.
