Objective:To study the significance of p27~ p53 and PCNA during carcinogenesis and development of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: The protein expressions of p27 p53 and PCNA were examined by immunohistochemistry S-P method in 9 cases of oral normal mucosa, 11 cases of oral hyperplastic tissues,26 cases of oral precancerous lesions and 54 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma .Results: The high expression of p27 was observed in oral normal mucosa and hyperplastic tissues, the rate of high (low) experssion of p27 in oral precancerous lesions and squamous cell carcinoma were 61.5% (38.5%) and 25.9% (61.1%) ,and the loss of expression of p27 was observed in 7 of 54 cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma. The protein expression of p27 was correlated with tissue differentiatial degree and tumor-peorad (p
