| Li-long Housing, as a component of Shanghai's history in modern times, has important historical and cultural value, which should be understood more comprehensively in order to retain the cultural heritage more completely. However, non-system and variability of Lilong residential greening led to its study in the blank stage. The thesis attempts to have a systematic analysis of Lilong residential greening, with a view to improve the relevant research field, and provide a theoretical basis for improving Lilong's environment, maintaining and continuing Lilong's features.Through the collection and summary of literature, the thesis has made an objective analysis of Lilong's historical background and development conditions, and then discussed its scale, characteristics and evolution. On this basis, through mapping and survey of 9 typical cases, the study has restored the green planting plan and found the universal features and the rule of evolution of greening. Furthermore, the influence of Lilong residential greening has been analysed and the outlook for the next research has been proposed. The main conclusions are as followings:â‘ The development of Lilong housing in Modern Shanghai was associated with the history of Shanghai Concession, which appeared in 1870, developed in 1911 and fell into decay in 1949. It can be divided into old Shikumen, Canton-styled Lilong, new-styled Shikumen, new-styled Lilong, Garden-styled Lilong and Apartment-styled Lilong. The formation of the real-estate market and the conditions of economy, climate, technology and facilities made Lilong residences have a large number of construction. Different types of Lilong housing have different scale, layout, facade style and residential facilities, but also have certain connection with each other. The development history of Lilong can be devided into three stages.â‘¡In order to meet the needs of different economic sectors, Lilong housing experienced a series of changes from tight to open living space, closed to open courtyard and improving living environment. The green environment also experienced four stages of development, which were increased green volume, expanded planting area and open-tended green space.â‘¢In the unique environment of Lilong, greening has played an important role in improving the environment, creating the landscape and disseminating Modern Civilization. In addition, the classification patterns and the ecological concepts of Lilong residential greening has a reference for landscape planning in modern residential areas. In order to transmit the functions of greening and carry forward Lilong's features, we should have a system planning on the basis of protection of the historical city in the process of Lilong's reconstruction. |
