To contribute to the mechanisation of seed processing and improve the quality of seeds, we develop a set of seed-processing equipment. When the seed-processing equipment works, there exist all kinds of electromagnetic interference, which may affect the reliability of communication among the function modules of the control system seriously. To guarantee the reliable communication on the data link and keep the machine operating normally, it is essential to adopt the mechanisms of error control, which are divided into two categories: ARQ and HEC. However, a single error control method is unable to keep high communication efficiency at all the possible bit error rates (BER). When the BER is low, ARQ is more efficient than HEC. When the BER is high, HEC is more efficient.To overcome this problem, this paper researches and designs a set of adaptive error control communication protocols, by which the control system detects the BER with statistical methods and switch to the proper error control method according to the detected BER. This paper states and analyzes the adaptive error control protocol from two aspects.First of all, this paper designs the communication protocol of adaptive error control in principle. First, this paper introduces the overall scheme of the adaptive error control. Then this paper designs the achieving schemes of the single error control methods - ARQ and HEC. The analysis results show that, the designed schemes bear good performance of error detection and error correction. Accordingly, this paper gives the fast algorithms to realize the encoding and decoding of error detection and error correction, which contribute to the efficiency of error control. At last, to improve the performance of CRC, this paper gives the fast designing method of the CRC optimal generator polynomial.Secondly, this paper gives the method to realize the adaptive error control combining with the special application - seed-processing equipment. First, this paper designs the control system of the seed processors. Then this paper designs the communication system in hardware and software, including the communication interface, the flow of data transfer and the flow of error control. Based on the communication system, this paper gives the methods to design the critical BER and to switch the error control method. At last, this paper analyzes the performance of the adaptive communication protocol for a specified example. The analysis results show that the adaptive communication protocols can provide higher efficiency at a wider range of BER for normal communication.
