| Cherries are worldwide well-known flowering plants blong to Rosaceae family Cerasus genus. China has a high diversity of ornamental cherry in the world. It is one of the distribution centers of Cerasus, there are many varieties are rich in resources, have great future in development and utilization into landscape garden. Landscape application of cherries are still short of complete theoretical guidance and system evaluation. The data of resources investigation of Cerasus are far form perfect. Landscape application levels are very low. On the foundation of predecessor's studies, carry out the resources investigations thoroughly in domestic especially in those areas that Cerasus resources concentrated distribution. At the same time, systematical classification were completed and conducted scientific comment about landscape application of cherries, to provided theoretical and practical guidance for the future works. The key research results are as follows:(1) Resources investigated in those cities including Wuhan, Changsha, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Beijing, Qingdao. Documented the morphological characters of all varieties in detail, established the species records, obtained the information of oriental Cerasus, formulated unified investigation standard, and clarified basically oriental Cerasus cultivars distributed condition. Determinated 14 species 65 cultivars, including 6 new cultivars. Order 15 variety names. According to separate criteria and provenance source, classified order all the investigated species and cultivars, and then establish the species keys. To describe all cultivars motphologic characteristics in detail.(2) Characteristics of morphological classification of stable and unstable character traits were summarized to develop a variety classification basis for the future as the classification provides a standard reference.(3) Through poems from the historical legends to decorative patterns, and other cultural forms of mining painting cherries culturals connotation, The landscape of cherries reflect the mood.Cherry aesthetic elements of research and analysis on the flower color, leaf type, tree analysis of aesthetic elements, in order to better tap the aesthetic value of cherry blossoms, so the future can be better used in the garden, reflecting the characteristics of cherry. Cultivars on the investigation of the observed phenology, master different species of flowering, the best viewing and so on.(4) The cherry is obvious great ornamental value, having the basic characteristic of the ornamental plants. It is an ornamental integration of the tree shape, the tree posture, flower, leaves, the courtyard shade tree, main trees of residential area evanescence and so on. It can formed independent landscape and also plant in patterns such as isolated planting, linear planting, clump planting, group planting. It can also be coordinated to landscape elements such as other plants, building, rockery, water body, roads, landform.Cherry blossom landscape application widely used in parks, special class garden, campus and so on.
