Mostly bones and teeth used as a classification of traditional taxonomic zoology. Fur characteristics were counted as a reference, the characteristics of fur and hair were overlooked. Fur samples were selected from two hundred and twenty eight winter skins of forty species in five families of Carnivora, including summer skins of Stoat and Weasel. For each individual, eight guard hairs were collected from each sampling of mid-back. In addition, their samples include upper hairs of Large Indian Civet and Large-spotted Civet, bristles of Chinese Desert Cat and Steppe Cat, upper hairs of Steppe Polecat and Amur Polecat on buttock. The research observed the characteristics of fur and hair, including fur macroscopic morphology, pelage type, hair color, scales pattern, arrangement of scales pattern, medulla shape, using Canon' G10 camera and biological microscope system H6303i taken them photographs. Morphological indices of the fur and hairs were measured, including body length, tail length, hair length, hair diameter, medulla diameter, and then the proportion of tail length and body length (ratio of tail length to body length) and medulla index (ratio of medulla diameter to hair diameter) were calculated. In order to manage scientifically and share through Internet, the Chinese Mammalian Fur Identification Database System was established through analysis of the data and designing database structure systems.
