| Saihanba mechanical forest farm is the biggest forest farm of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation in china, it is in semi-arid region, the atmospheric precipitation is only water source for plant. Now, the forest farm is faced second-generation forest renewal and sustainable development of forests. In this paper, the hydrological effects and the characteritics of water-consumption of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation were studied by used field survey and located observation. The main conclusions were as the following:1. The rainfall was 348.4mm from May 1st to October 15th of 2009 in experimental area, and the monthly precipitation was very uneven.The total rate of canopy interception,throughfall rate,stemflowand rate were22.87%,76.56%,0.57%.The relationship between interception rate, throughfall rate,stemflowand rate and rainfal were power function, logarithmic function,linear function.The influence of rainfall intensity was notobvious.2. The thickness of three kinds of forest plantations litter was 3.50-5.50cm, the total reserves ranged between 42.23-63.42 t/hm-2. The relationship between water holding capacity of litter and immersion time was logarithmic function, power function.3. All kinds of soil bulk density increases with depth, the variation of soil moisture and soil water storage were very significant in different seasons and depth. Young forest, middle-age forest have shown serious water deficit, and the soil moisture of nearly mature forest was always maintained a high level.4. The curves of sap flow rate and sap flow of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation showed a clear width of peak shape, the stem sap flow rate and solar radiation intensity, air temperature, wind speed were positively correlated, with the relative humidity was negatively correlated.Throughout the growing season,the water consumption was 200.03mm, was 16.29L/d per plant trees.5.
