In this thesis, different age moso bamboo were used to collect date, to investigate the changes of chemical composition of moso bamboo(phyllostachys pubescens), the changes of surface chemical composition were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The changes of wettability and surface color of different age moso bamboo were examined, however, 4 years bamboo was treated by heating treatment and Xenon lamp irradiation, to analyze the wetting degree of bamboo surface and the changes of surface color. The major achievements of this study were summarized as follows:(1) With the increase of bamboo age, the change of relative content of alpha-cellulose and lignin between 4 month-10 years was samll. While bamboo at the age of 4 month-2 years, relative content of holocellulose decreased and reached minimum at the age of 2 years, there is a little change of relative content of holocellulose between 2-10 years. With the increase of bamboo age, the relative content of hemicellulose of bamboo surface increased, and the change of relative content of lignin was samll. With the treating time, there is a little increase of the relative content of hemicellulose of bamboo surface, while lignin reduced. After heating treatment, the relative content of lignin increased, while holocellulose and alpha-cellulose decreased of 4 years bamboo. After of Xenon lamp irradiation, the relative content of hemicellulose increased and ligin relatively decreased of treated bamboo.(2) Contact angles of a water drop were different in different age bamboo. The contact angles of 4 month bamboo were less than 4 years bamboo, the contact angles of 1 year bamboo were least. So the wettability of 1 year was best, the wettability of 2 years was better, the wettability of 4 month was less, the wettability of 4 years was weakest. The contact angles on treated bamboo and untreated bamboo surface with three wetting liquids for Water > Formamide > Diiodomethane. Compared with untreated bamboo, the contact angles of treated bamboo increased, bamboo surface energy reduced, surface wettability decreased. The effect of treating temperature on bamboo wettability greater than treating time.(3) With the increase of bamboo age, bamboo surface color became red and yellow, the color changed gradually darker and became more and more obvious. Different age of bamboo color were indistinctively after 1 hour exposure. Bamboo lightness (L*) changed obviously among 5-150 hours irradiation. With exposure time, the overall color changed(△E﹡) of different age bamboo increased, color change was more and more obvious, bamboo surface color became darker and darker. Among them,△E* of 4 years old was biggest.(4) Compared with untreated bamboo, With higher treatment temperature and longer treatment time, L* of 4 years bamboo reduced, while△E﹡increased. Bamboo surface color changed gradually darker and deeper. As the extension of treating time, L* of treating bamboo increased, and surface color became brighten. Under the condition of different heating treatments, with the extension of treating time,△E﹡ increased and the surface color changed obviously. Compared untreated bamboo,△E﹡of treated bamboo were lower.
