Wheat aphids,which cause feeding harm,but also can transmit wheat yellow dwarf,is a serious pest insect group of wheat in China and even worldwide wheat growing area.Therefore,breeding resistant wheat vanities is aimportant link of integrated pest management(IPM) on wheat diseases and insect.The effects of five wheat varieties of different BYDV resistance on growth,development and fecundity of vector aphids (Sizaphis graminum(Rondani), Rhopalosiphum padi(Linnaeus)) had been studied. In the paper,different wheat varieties were evaluated for resistance to BYDV by semi-quantitative reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR) which was used to detect BYDV accumulation content in different wheat plants.The same time, transmission capabilities of BYDV by S.graminum and R.padi was studied in this paper. The result show as follows:The biological performance of two species wheat aphids(S.graminum and R.padi)on five wheat varieties showed that Jinmai 47 and Zhangchun 20 have better resistance to S.graminum, Xiaoyan 6 has weak resistance to S.graminum,Xiaoyan 22 and Zhong 4's resistance to S.graminum are in the middle of five wheat varieties; Xiaoyan 22 and Zhangchun 20 have better resistance to R.padi,Xiaoyan 6 and Zhong 4 have weak resistance to R.padi, Jinmai 47's resistance to R.padi is in the middle of five wheat varieties.In the five wheat varieties,there were small amount of BYDV could be detected in Zhong 4 and Zhangchun 20;Jinmai 47 comes second;there were large amount of BYDV could be detected in Xiaoyan 22 and Xiaoyan 6.This showed that Zhong 4 and Zhangchun 20 have better resistance to BYDV-GPV;Jinmai 47 comes second;Xiaoyan 22 and Xiaoyan 6 have weak resistance to BYDV-GPV.Wheat varieties of different resistance to wheat yellow dwarf have effects to the two vector aphids.The transmission capabilities of BYDV by S.graminum and R.padi on Xiaoyan 22 and Xiaoyan 6 were strong;Jinmai 47 comes second; te transmission capabilities of BYDV by S.graminum and R.padi on Zhong 4 and Zhangchun 20 were the weakest.The trend of the amount of BYDV in different wheat varieties is the same as the transmission capabilities of BYDV by S.graminum and R.padi.Through regression analysis,the resistance to wheat yellow dwarf of different wheat varieties correlated well with the transmission capabilities of BYDV by S.graminum and R.padi.The analysis of the resistance to wheat aphids and wheat yellow dwarf showed that Zhong 4 had the resistance to wheat yellow dwarf but did not resist wheat aphids; Zhangchun 20 had the resistance to wheat aphids and wheat yellow dwarf; Xiaoyan 22 had the resistance to wheat aphids but did not resist wheat yellow dwarf; Jinmai 47 had middle resistance to wheat aphids and wheat yellow dwarf;Xiaoyan 6 did not resist wheat aphids and wheat yellow dwarf.
