In Jilin Province there is a good natural condition for maize production. It is especial suitable for the growth of corn and other crops in the central of Jilin Province called BLACK REGION OF CHINA. It is famous for one of the world three gold. Improving the level of maize breeding is what we are very concerned about to continue to provide protection for the steady growth of corn production in Jilin Province in the twenty-first century. Accordingly, this article studied comprehensive traits of corn varieties examined in Jilin Province for regional information. Jilin Province General validation summary and analysis of properties, It pointed out objectively that changes trends of corn yield traits and the corn breeding goal should be strengthened .And then it discussed the main goal of corn breeding in Jilin Province and scientific and researched on technological innovation.This article analyzed comprehensively the traits of corn yield and corn quality and corn disease resistance and so on in Jilin Province. The ordinary corn varieties were approved from 1988 to 2007. As follows:1 The breeding level of corn from mid-late maturing and late-maturing varieties in Jilin Province had made little progress during two decades. But the breeding level of corn from early-maturing and mid-early middle-maturing varieties had made great progress. Yield of the reference corn varieties replaced has a larger improvement and reached a new level. In recent years yield of the reference corn varieties of middle, mid-late and late-maturing has declined. So the reference corn varieties need to be replaced to meet the breeding and production in Jilin Province.2 The majority of the ordinary corn varieties in Jilin Province from 1988 to 2007 were very good in disease resistance. But Curvularia leaf spot disease resistance was bad and Kang Da leaf spot and stem borer disease resistance had declined in recent years. In general speaking the corn breeding level of disease resistance had made little progress in Jilin Province.3 In two decades development trend of corn quality traits had declined in Jilin Province. Development trend of starch content and unit weight were not significant difference. But Development trend of content of crude fat and crude protein and lysine had declined.4 In two decades in Jilin Province five heterotic models of corn hybrids from huangzaosi×Reid, huangzaosi×Lancaster, Reid×Lvda red cob, Lancaster×Reid, P78599×some of them (huangzaosi, Reid, Lancaster, Lvda red cob) were main. Heterotic model of huangzaosi×Reid is the maximum in Jilin Province.5 The recycling maize inbred lines were major in maize inbred lines from 1988 to 2007.The number of the recycling lines was increasing year by year. The maize inbred lines of ji853, MO17, 340, 598, 7922,444, he344 and so on are main for corn breeding.Ji853 has become the importance inbred lines of breeding and production and germplasm resources.6 According to statement above this article brought up the main objective of maize breeding in Jilin Province. It pointed out that there was still narrow on germplasm foundation. It needs to be further improved .And it brought forward some proposals on maize innovation of germplasm and technological innovation, system innovation.
